Godaddy Problems

I now have learned about the working (or should I say NOT working) of godaddy.

1. They lock a domain name for 60 days upon transfer to new owner. It is a company policy, to get you to renew with them (scam!).

2. Then they have a lock on renewal of 45 days, that if you transfer the domain name during that time, you lose all the years you paid for! Try that with any other product and see what happens. Buy it and lose it, another scam.

3. The control panel times out after several minutes requiring a log in and navigate back down to where you were. What a pain that is. (Might be considered a “feature”).

4. They charge $9.99 + $.20 ICANN fee for .com domain names. Hostica.com is $8.95 including the ICANN fee.

5. I was told by 2 different support technicians and one of the “President’s” office supervisor that the above rules were ICANN rules. When I asked them where in the ICANN rules this was located, they changed their story and said it was indeed just a godaddy policy. Nice to be able to switch stances on the fly as you see fit.

Summary: they don’t seem to be honest in dealing with customers. I don’t trust a company that says one thing and when confronted, change their tune and correct themselves. Seems dishonest or maybe they hope that they can fool the uneducated.

I am glad to report that Hostica.com is a Christian company and as such is held to a higher standard and authority than thier CEO, who seems to be more interested in big chested models for his super bowl ads than having employees who are honest (or at least informed).
